How to Take Care of your Noctum Pieces
Caring for your Noctum pieces means acknowledging the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each design. Here’s how to maintain your latex and leather garments to ensure they remain bold and striking.
Avoid contact with metals and chemicals! It's best not to combine jewelry and sharp objects with latex. Light and transparent latex is more susceptible to color change. Therefore, store it separately in a dark bag and only with other latex of the same color. Wash after every wearing as soon as possible. Wet latex appears lighter and may look spotty. The color will return to its original state once dried. In case of an allergy to natural latex, avoid this material. Avoid exposure to high temperatures and sunlight.
Latex Care
Cleaning
Use a mild, non-abrasive soap mixed with lukewarm water. Gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid harsh chemicals which can degrade latex. After washing and rinsing in warm water, you can add a few drops of latex oil to the bath and let it sit for 10 minutes. The latex treated this way should be left to dry and is ready for storage. If you prefer to store it with powder, then skip this step.
Drying
Always air dry your latex pieces away from direct sunlight to prevent cracking and fading. Hang them on a padded plastic hanger to maintain their shape. Wet latex appears lighter and may look splotchy. This is not a flaw; after drying, these spots will disappear, and the color will be as it should. While drying, you can turn the garment several times to speed up the process.
Storing
After drying, you can store the garment either oiled – if you used the oiling method in the bath – or you can powder the garment. However, before every wear and oiling, you must thoroughly wash the powder out, so I recommend the method with oiling in the bath. Store your latex items in a cool, dark place. Use dark plastic bags, as they allow the materials to breathe. Store with the same colors, never combine more than one color in one place. Also, be careful with any metals and chemicals that could damage the latex. Avoid folding the pieces to prevent creases. You can also store the garment on a plastic hanger covered with a plastic bag.
Shine
For that signature shine, apply a silicone-based dressing specifically designed for latex. Avoid petroleum-based products, as they can harm the material.
Leather Care
Cleaning
Dust off your leather pieces with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth with a mild leather cleaner. Do not soak the leather.
Conditioning
To keep the leather supple, apply a leather conditioner every few months. This helps prevent cracking and extends the life of your garment.
Drying
Should your leather get wet, let it air dry naturally. Avoid heat sources as they can warp and damage the leather.
Storing
Store your leather pieces in a cool, dry place. Use padded hangers or fold them loosely in a cotton garment bag. Always ensure they're not in contact with other harsh materials.
By adhering to these care tips, your Noctum pieces will continue to embody the essence of darkness and individuality, turning heads and making powerful statements wherever you go. Celebrate your self-expression with garments that not only look good but also last.
