Noctum muse - timmi

We saw you dancing. You saw her singing. Dressed from head to toe in latex and leather from Noctum. Her name is Adriána Vančová alias timmi.

And in the following interview we were exploring why she decided to melt into our second skin on her performance for lunchmeat festival, and how it felt.

Audiovisual delight,

analogue treasures

Timmi, co-founder of the Řehole festival and music label, collaborated with visual artists Darjan Hardi & Tomáš Martinek to present the world premiere of Litospheres at Lunchmeat Festival. This audiovisual experience explores themes of return, responding to the dire state of our natural world while examining layers of identity akin to geological sedimentation. Expect breathtaking vocals paired with analogue imagery that highlights hidden moments and overlooked textures.

Don’t forget to breathe & blink.

What attracted you to Noctum?

I was drawn to Noctum's concept when the brand shared the first sneak peek on social media. It resonated with me deeply, and I felt a strong inner call that compelled me to express my interest. One of the main aspects for me was the opportunity to work with my own dark side — uncovering and connecting with it. Additionally, I was visually fascinated by the individual pieces and the entire collection, particularly the use of latex material, which for me definitely represents a significant departure from established clothing concepts.

“My driving force is actually my dark side, which made a friendship with my lighter aspects.”

Why did you seek out Noctum for costumes, and how did this collaboration come about?

I approached Noctum for a collaboration because I was searching for a costume for my performance at the Lunchmeat Festival in Prague, which was, in the workfield, one of the personal highlights for me this year. I was captivated by Han's conceptual approach to Noctum. One of the most intriguing aspects was her fascination with rocks, mountains, stones, and minerals — elements she identified as inspirations for her work. Coincidentally, one of the themes of my concert was also centered around rocks and stones, titled Litospheres. This alignment made everything fall into place perfectly.

What made you feel this second skin like during the performance?

Having never worn such a large piece of latex before, I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable it was. The dress had a pleasing weight — not heavy enough to hinder me but substantial enough to provide a inner support. I felt buoyant and warm while mostly indoors; I'm unsure how I would react in colder settings, but at room temperature, it was quite pleasant. To my surprise, I hardly sweated — much less than I expected. The material kept me cool and felt surprisingly breathable despite being impermeable. During the concert, the latex interacted beautifully with the lighting, sometimes shining brightly and other times allowing light to filter through, contributing to the overall magic of the performance. It was truly a mystical experience.

Don’t forget to breath & blink.

How do you identify yourself and how do you express your identity?

Wow. That's an interesting and profound question! I'm grateful that we can explore our inner lives through Noctum. I identify more with feminine energy than masculine one, although I do experience both sometimes. Since becoming self-aware, I've appreciated contrasts within myself, that's why I've translated softness and purity into hardness, mauve also strictness, and darkness. This understanding has evolved through various life periods and experiences. What fascinates me about Noctum is its ability to combine these dualities into one experience of unity.

What shadows serve as your creative driving force behind your art?

This is a topic I've been reflecting on lately. Thank you for bringing it up! It's an ongoing journey of exploration and conscious understanding that is both challenging and beautiful as I seek my own truth and authenticity. My driving force is actually my dark side, which made a friendship with my lighter aspects. I'm learning to integrate this darkness consciously, regardless of societal labels of good or bad. Sometime I feel like a bad bitch seeking revenge; other times, like a dying animal or a wise witch who perceives all the deep insights. Occasionally, I feel heartbroken by the world's hatred; at other moments, like an angel wishing to bless and love this world.
