How to Take Care of your Noctum Pieces
Latex Care
Caring for your Noctum pieces means acknowledging the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each design. Here’s how to maintain your latex and leather garments to ensure they remain bold and striking.
Avoid contact with metals and chemicals! It's best not to combine jewelry and sharp objects with latex.
Light and translucent latex is more susceptible to color change. Therefore, store it separately in a dark bag and only with other latex of the same color.
Wash after every wearing as soon as possible. Wet latex appears lighter and may look spotty. The color will return to its original state once dried.
In case of an allergy to natural latex, avoid this material.
Avoid exposure to high temperatures and sunlight.
Washing & Drying
After each use, wash the garment as soon as possible. You can rinse it in lukewarm water. If needed, add a drop of soap. You can use regular dishwashing soap or special soap for latex care, but avoid harsh chemicals. Rinse the latex in a bath. Sometimes it is necessary to let it soak for about 10 minutes. Then rinse in clean water until the latex is completely clean.
Now the latex is clean and you can go to the next step. You can choose if you like to store the latex powdered or oiled. We recommend the oiled method.
If the latex needs to be repaired, you have to wash it with soap so there is no oil on the latex left and than powder it after drying.
Fill a bucket with lukewarm water and add a few drops of latex silicone oil. Let it soak for 10 minutes. Then you can remove the garment and prepare it for drying. You can also use paper towels and wipe the water droplets from the outside and inside of the garment. This will speed up the drying process.
Be careful, the oil is very slippery, it is better to put a piece of cloth on the floor and wash the bucket well with soap after the use.
Always air dry latex pieces, out of direct sunlight. Hang the garment on a plastic hanger. After a few hours you can turn the garment inside out to speed up the drying process. Wet latex will change color and look mottled, but this is not a defect. Latex is dry when it has returned to its original color and has no light marks. It may take a few days to dry completely.
Store dried latex in a plastic box or bag. You can also store it on a coat hanger and in a plastic bag. Always make sure that the latex is not exposed to light, excessive heat or contact with metals and chemicals. Store separately or with similar colors.
If you have not oiled the garment, you can dry it and then powder it and store it in a box, etc. Separate powdered and oiled garments. It is best to wash off all powder before wearing and oiling.
If your latex is oiled, there is no need to degrease it and after use just wash it in water and then add a drop of oil. If the latex is more dirty, then use soap as recommended.
When putting on your latex piece, you can use a silicone-based oil specifically for latex and rub it in gently. Finish your styling and use oil for the perfect look.
